Goa (ciudad)

Goa (city) – the Portuguese made this town one of its trading outposts in India for nearly 500 years (before pulling out in 1961 as a result of an invasion of Indian troops into that enclave). The Portuguese influence in Goa is still the Christian faith and the architecture they left behind (since the Portuguese language itself is fading away there). One of the famous sites in Goa is the Basilica of Bom Jesus — deemed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and still holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. Right across from the Basilica is the Se Cathedral (the oldest and most celebrated church in Goa and reputed to be one of the largest churches in Asia). The Basilica and Cathedral are located in Old Goa, the one-time capital of Goa. Nowadays, Goa is world-famous for its beaches and nightlife (attracting waves of travelers from Europe and elsewhere – especially those who are dance music fans).

Jardín de los Cinco Sentidos

Garden of Five Senses (Said-ul-Ajaib, M.B. Road, South of Saket, New Delhi, Delhi) — Twenty acres of sprawling lush garden area, the Garden of Five Senses is situated close to Mehrauli heritage zone. The park is a great place to relax and unwind. The park plays host to a variety of activities that invite public interaction and exploration.

Located at Said-ul-ajaib village, the park displays soaring stainless steel birds mounted on slate- clad pillars, an expansive plaza, spiral walkway, series of fountains, stoned elephants and water steams. Next to Garden of Five Senses lies the Mehrauli Archaeological Park, which is spread across 100 acres of forest reserve land. Lying adjacent to QutabMinar, the well conserved park is home to some fine examples of architecture like the carved tombs, baolis and mosque arches.

Gandhi Smriti

Gandhi Smriti (5 Tees January Marg, New Delhi, Delhi) – this residence was the exact location when famed Indian independence leader Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on January 30, 1948. He resided there for 144 days leading to his death. With his bedroom kept intact from that time in, visitors will find a variety of Gandhi’s personal items here (from photos to sculptures, paintings, and inscriptions). Admission: free. Hours: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (Tuesday – Sunday). Closed on Mondays.

Campo de cricket Feroz Shah Kotla

Feroz Shah Kotla Cricket Ground (Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi) – this is a cricket arena which is named after the emperor Ferozshah Tughlaq. At the Kotla you can expect a brand new international cricketing venue, with longer boundaries and expectedly, more seating. A new tiered colored seating system rising up to 20 meters above ground level ensures watching the game from a completely new perspective. In addition, the players have a new pavilion, an upgraded media center for the scribes, and for the first time in the capital – Corporate Hospitality Suites. Kotla stadium boasts of a seating capacity of over 40, 000 people. With the initiation of Indian premier League (IPL) since 2008, the stadium has been the home venue of the Delhi Daredevils, a franchise of IPL. Delhi Golf Club

Delhi Golf Club (Dr. Zakir Hussain Road, New Delhi, Delhi) — The DGC as its better known is one of the top courses in India with a sterling reputation. As a golfer this is a MUST PLAY course. Built by the British in 1931, it is one of the oldest golf courses in Asia & the oldest one in Delhi. There are 2 courses here – a 18 hole course, the Lodhi course & the 9 hole Peacock course. Delhi Golf Club, originally called the “Lodhi Golf Course”, contains many Tughlak & Lodi dynasty monuments, and is also home to a variety of birds and deer. Cavelossim Beach

Cavelossim Beach (Goa) –This serene beach in Goa attracts tourists with activities such as sun bathing, sun basking, dolphin trips, sunset cruise, and shopping. Baga Beach (Goa) — this is part of a 30 km stretch of beach coastline along the west coast of Goa by the Arabian Sea that begins at Fort Aguada, continuing as Sinquerim Beach, then as Candolim Beach and merges into Calangute Beach and then to Baga beach. This is one of Goa’s more popular beaches with the tourists – complete with a variety of activities (from parasailing to water sports, and even dolphin cruises). A variety of beach bars and restaurants can easily be found there.
